Hakim Ul UMMAH RA- Self Introduction
When a police officer stationed at the police station requested to (Bay’ah) to Hakim al-Ummah, Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (RA). Hazrat introduced himself in response:
I am a simple student. In this era, the things that are considered essential for spirituality—such as Milad Sharif, Giyarhveen Sharif , Urs Sharif , Niaz Sharif, Fateha Khwani, Qawwali and the like—I am deprived of all these and prefer to keep my friends on this simple path as well.
I am neither a SahibEKaramat nor one who experiences Kashf nor am I a person of fame, nor am I common.
I simply continue to inform about the commands of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) I do not impose any formality on my friends.
I do not wish to hide my condition, any of my teachings, nor any suggestions related to religious matters.
I do not insist anyone to act, but I am pleased when I see someone’s act is according to Shariah. And saddened when I see someone distant from Sharia.
I do not ask anything from anyone. nor i recommend(Safarish) for anyone. Therefore, some people call me ‘dry person’ . My nature is that I do not cause any harm, even if it’s verbal harm. The utmost concern I have for myself and my friends is that no one is making any kind of harm to others—whether (1)physical, like beating, etc. (2)financial, like usurping someone’s rights or unjustly taking something (3)Related to honor, such as belittling someone or backbiting etc (4)or causing psychological distress, for example, putting someone in anxiety or dealing with them in an unpleasant, distressing manner.
And if, due to any mistake of mine, such a thing occurs, then I am not ashamed to seek forgiveness.
I am so attentive to these matters that seeing someone’s appearance contrary to Shariah only causes mild complaint, but seeing negligence in these matters causes me immense grief.
And I pray that Allah grants deliverance from this.
