Respect for teachers play a fundamental role in shaping a person’s character. History bears witness that anyone who has ever attained greatness did so through the respect and honor they showed to their teachers. Respect is the essence that guides a person toward success and blessings. An ill-mannered individual, no matter how intelligent or capable, cannot achieve true progress. There are many students who used to trouble their teachers and mock them; despite obtaining the highest degrees, they have not succeeded in life.

I recall a remarkable incident about two students in an educational institution. One was extremely intelligent; he would memorize everything he heard instantly. Every lesson was committed to memory, but he lagged in serving and respecting his teachers. The other student was not as bright, but he was always engaged in serving his teacher. He would clean the teacher’s place, heat water for easiness of teacher, and perform other services to make his teacher Happy and delightful.

One day, the intelligent student entered the class and saw the other student cleaning the teacher’s seat.

Arrogantly, he said, “Brother! Why don’t you study a bit, or will you just keep cleaning this place?”

When the honorable teacher heard about this situation, He angrily Said: “Whoever becomes arrogant due to his knowledge will be deprived of its blessings.”

Years later, when both had completed their education, the world witnessed a strange sight. The intelligent student, who had mastery over all sciences, was deprived of teaching opportunities. No student was inclined toward him.

Meanwhile, the other student, who used to serve the teachers, was granted such acceptance by prayers of his teacher that wherever he sat, crowds of students would gather around him. His circle expanded, and people began coming to him in droves to acquire knowledge.

In religious seminaries, special emphasis is placed on teaching respect and honor for teachers. Students love their teachers and consider maintaining lifelong connections with them as an honor. This love and respect are also evident on social media. Nowadays, one can frequently see scenes of religious students of Madaris expressing devotion to their teachers on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and others.
